The “Working Together to Safeguard Children” safeguarding awareness course replaces and updates the “What to do if you are worried a child is being abused” training. This half day course is suitable for all staff in schools and education settings. The statutory guidance, ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ indicates that headteachers, and all other staff who work with children, should undertake appropriate training, regularly updated, to equip them to carry out their responsibilities for safeguarding and child protection effectively, (as approved by Surrey Safeguarding Children Board). NQTs should receive this training within three months of starting work. The training will also cover statutory requirements as defined in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ 2016 and will consider lessons to be learned from key Serious Case Reviews.
